Do you know what you want to blog about?
When I decided that I wanted to be a blogger, I started blogging about Mom Life. I was also big into doTERRA essential oils and I started blogging about that also which was so much fun! However, my favorite was blogging about books. I am a huge bookworm and am not happy unless I am surrounded by books. Honestly, you can blog about anything you want and remember even if there are millions of bloggers out there, they are not you. Your blog will be yours and it will be fabulous so I say you get it started today!
Choose your domain and hosting provider
Some bloggers choose to start off on a platform made specifically for blogger beginners such as WordPress.com which you can create a blog using their software. Although I may mention that it has to go by their rules and it will be under their umbrella so to speak. You won’t be able to customize it completely the way that you would with your own WordPress.org website with hosting and your own chosen domain. If you want your own domain (ex: yourblogname.com) then you may want to go the route that I did and set up your own domain and hosting plan with a hosting provider such as Siteground before you do anything. You can hear me rave all about them in my blog post here and will even show you the steps to set it up!
The wonders of WordPress
I am sure you have heard the word WordPress being thrown around often if you have done some research on blogging or even websites. WordPress is the largest content management system (CMS) out there. It started off as just a blogging platform but most large business websites even are using it due to its user friendly features. It is easy to navigate the backend of your website to edit, update or even add new content to your website. Once you have your hosting plan set up and your domain registered, you will be able to install WordPress on your website which is one of the most important steps.
I like to think of a fresh install of wordpress onto a new site being like a brand new blank canvas to begin your masterpiece with your website being your masterpiece. It is the beginnings of a fantastic work of art.

So many design choices...
Once you have WordPress installed, you can either choose a free theme, a paid theme or even a page builder plugin. I have tried all 3 and find Elementor page builder to be the most fun and easiest to get the hang of. It even has premade templates to use so all you have to do is put your content and images in and you are done. Elementor Pro is the premium version and has a whole lot more features, drag and drop elements and templates than the free version. I advise you to give the free version a try and see if you like it. You can always go back to using a WordPress theme instead.
If you aren’t exactly the techy type, you can choose one of my premade website template kits made from Elementor to upload into your WordPress website. All you need is your images, logo and content for an easy simple set up.
